Zip HydroTap makes a difference in BBC’s DIY SOS

Tuesday, 11 May 2010

Zip HydroTap's safe, filtered instant boiling and chilled water is a key element of this particularly touching episode of BBC1's popular programme DIY SOS.

Hosted by Nick Knowles, the episode is entitled " Work-top woes in Watford".

BBC TV DIY SOS

Lucy Salamone and Mario Petagine were thrilled to have finally bought their dream home in Watford. They moved in with their three beautiful children and began the work of gradual live-in renovation.

Within weeks - shortly after Mario had gutted the kitchen to make a large kitchen/family room, their three year old daughter Luna was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The family's lives changed overnight. Lucy quit work to care for Luna. Mario had to try and pick up the slack while working on their house and looking after the other two kids.

Although Luna was responding to treatment, things were not going well for the family.

Luna's treatment includes chemotherapy - making her particularly susceptible to germs. As a result, and especially because the family home was without a kitchen, hospital was the only safe place for Luna. With Mum and Luna at hospital and Dad and the other two kids at home - when Dad was not working - the family was basically split in two.

David Bradbrook, Marketing Director at Zip Heaters (UK) Ltd commented,

"When approached by the BBC we were delighted to be able to provide a HydroTap to assist Luna's parents in caring for their daughter at home."

He continued, "We usually detail the benefits of the HydroTap in terms of drinking water convenience, taste and style, but clearly, the reason it's been chosen in this case is its capability to deliver instant boiling water, for a very different purpose; something that's essential for this little girl."

Now having the Zip HydroTap at home (as part of their personal DIY SOS), Luna's Mum and Dad can quickly sterilise and clean her medical equipment and food bottles in the serenity of her home, rather than having to manage her illness in hospital. And HydroTap offers Luna safe drinking water too.
